“Some do,” Mama said. “That’s why archives matter. You just rescued a piece of your childhood.”

“I know,” Leo said. “That’s why I need the DVD.”

Leo smiled. “Like Diego.”

Leo knelt down. Inside were dusty discs, some with stickers of rainforest animals. He flipped past Diego Saves the Sloth and The Iguana Rescue . Then, near the bottom — a shiny disc in a slightly cracked case. The cover showed Diego in his yellow shirt, Baby Jaguar by his side, and a big jaguar cub looking lost.

Mama led him to the back room of their little town’s media archive — a cozy place with shelves of VHS tapes, CDs, and DVDs labeled by hand. “The ‘Diego Archive,’” she whispered, pointing to a green bin.

When the episode ended, Leo held the case gently. “Why don’t people keep these anymore?” he asked.
