Created by Michiharu Kusunoki , the manga ran from 1990 to 2008 (with several sequel series), becoming a cult classic for its raw portrayal of speed, obsession, and the dangerous allure of the highway. The Plot: A Devilish Car and a Haunted Driver The story begins when Akio Asakura , a technical college student, stumbles upon a wrecked midnight-blue Fairlady Z (S30) sitting in a junkyard. Something about the car calls to him. After an obsessive restoration, Akio discovers why the Z was abandoned: it’s the infamous "Devil Z."

The car has a dark history. Previously owned by (a brilliant but twisted surgeon), the Z is unnaturally fast, but it carries a curse. The Doctor died in a horrific crash while pushing the car to its limit, and whispers say the car wants to kill its driver. However, Akio isn't deterred. He discovers that the Z’s engine has been modified beyond factory specs by a mysterious tuner, giving it power that defies physics—and control.

You need happy endings, drifting, or relatable romance. No one in Wangan Midnight is okay—and they prefer it that way.
