Plankton walks out of the Krusty Krab, defeated but changed. He doesn’t try to steal the formula. He just sits outside the Chum Bucket, alone.

They jump forward to the day Mr. Krabs opened the Krusty Krab. A young, thin Krabs is nervous. The restaurant is empty. SpongeBob sees his younger self walking by—but this version is just a happy fry cook applicant, not yet the soul of the restaurant.

But Plankton can’t help himself. He tries to record the ingredients. In doing so, he startles Primitive Krabs, who drops the sea onion into a chasm. The patty is never born. The future begins to fade.

The Remote malfunctions. They overshoot and land in a desolate, gray Bikini Bottom—50 years in the future. The Chum Bucket is a towering metal fortress. Plankton has won. But he’s alone. Future Plankton (an old, withered shell) says: “I did it. I won. And it’s the loneliest feeling in the ocean.”
