Because Apple hashes filenames, manual browsing is useless. However, several reputable tools (e.g., iMazing, iPhone Backup Extractor, Decipher Backup Repair) can parse the Manifest.plist file and extract specific data—like WhatsApp history, photos, or SMS messages—without restoring the entire backup.

Keep one recent encrypted local backup in your MobileSync folder as a fallback, and use iCloud Backup for daily convenience.
