At Question 38, she missed a word. The recording said: “The roots can penetrate the facade within…” — she didn’t catch the number. She typed and moved on. Never stop for one missing answer.
Her heart thumped. She clicked .
A robotic female voice announced: “IELTS General Listening Practice Test. You will hear a number of different recordings. Answer the questions as you listen.”
The hotel receptionist asked, “What’s the name for the booking?” Answer: (She typed it exactly as spoken: two ‘k’s, one ‘s’).
A new screen appeared: All 40 questions were listed. Unanswered ones were highlighted in red (Question 14 and 38). She couldn’t guess—there was no audio to replay. But she clicked on Question 14, thought logically, and typed G (the only letter not used on the map). For Question 38, she typed 2 years as a wild guess.
