"Lily! I’m so sorry about the sweater! But Mochi climbed into the neighbor’s garage and I can’t reach her. Please come!"
There it was. Maya’s name, with a big red button in the corner. "Yes," Lily whispered, and tapped
Now, Maya’s cat, Mochi, was missing. The final voicemail (which had slipped through a crack in the block) said: "Lily, I really need you. Please."
Lily felt a knot in her stomach. Two weeks ago, after a silly argument about a borrowed sweater, Lily had angrily tapped "Block this Caller" and thrown her phone on the bed. She’d regretted it ever since. She tapped , then the red minus sign next to Maya’s name
