Here’s a short story inspired by the world of Amrutham , the beloved Telugu sitcom, centered around its actresses. The Other Amrutham

She was here for a reboot—a "nostalgia special," the producer called it.

But during a break, the new producer pulled her aside. "Lakshmi ji, we need to 'modernize' Amrutham. She runs a cloud kitchen now. And… we’re casting a younger face for the flashback episodes."

Lakshmi felt the floor tilt. "But I am Amrutham," she said quietly.

For seven years, Lakshmi was known to millions as "Amrutham." Not the sour-tasting elixir of the gods, but the sweet, harried, eternally optimistic wife of the lazy, vada -loving Anji. Every Sunday night, households across Andhra and Telangana would settle down to watch her roll her eyes at Anji’s schemes, wipe Appaji’s sweat with a dupatta, and serve coffee that was more sugar than decoction.

But tonight, Lakshmi was sitting in a near-empty studio in Hyderabad, the echo of laugh tracks long faded. The set of Amrutham Vilas café had been dismantled years ago. The iconic wooden benches were gone. The counter where Anji used to dream of getting rich was now just a chalk mark on the floor.
