Level three in the retail game is a grey space station. In v1.01, level three is a field of tall, swaying grass under a binary sunset. There are no enemies for the first 90 seconds. Just wind sounds. Then, you realize the grass is the enemy. The collision detection is so tight that you feel every brush against the flora damage you. It’s beautiful, quiet, and lethal. Why did they cut this?

Alien Quest v1.01 is not "better" than the final version. It’s broken, unfair, and the frame rate drops to single digits whenever you fire the plasma rifle. But it has soul .
In the official version, your health bar is a static green line. In v1.01, the UI breathes . The ammo counter flickers like an old fluorescent light. At first, I thought it was a sprite flicker due to bad soldering. But it’s too deliberate. When your health drops below 30%, the screen border literally turns blood red and pulses. It induces actual anxiety.
