Lena stared at her blank portfolio screen, the cursor blinking like a judgmental metronome. Her freelance brochure project was due in 48 hours, and her old software had just crashed for the tenth time.

Lena saved. Then she noticed a new folder on her desktop: Inside were drafts of a magazine, a cookbook, and a wedding invitation suite—all with her name on the byline.

She never finished the brochure (the client loved the “experimental” version anyway). But she did finish something else: a career.
